TyJon Delancy, Garfield Bulldogs (Los Angeles, CA.)

Garfield Football is Ready for the Big Stage
It’s going to happen. It’s only a matter of time before Garfield Football (East Los Angeles, CA.) gets over that Division 1 hump.  Let me give you a list of Garfield opponents in the last 4 years, Edison, St. Bonaventure, Dorsey, Bishop Amat, St. Paul, Orange Lutheran and Colony.  The Bulldogs from East L.A. do not back down from anyone and the tough schedule has paid off in Eastern League dominance but now the Bulldogs are looking for the hard work and strength of schedule to pay off in the playoffs.

TyJon Delancy
A big reason for Garfield’s success is senior running back TyJon Delancy.  Delancy’s 2013 stats stand at 1,317 Rushing Yards on 189 carries with one game left in league. He has 17 Rushing TD’s and again these stats not only come against Eastern League opponents but also the Bulldogs’ non-league match-ups.  He scored a season high 6 TD’s against a very much improved South Gate team this year and is averaging 146 yards a game.  On Friday night, Delancy finished with 127 yards on the ground in the East L.A. Classic as Garfield took care of Roosevelt 22-6
Playoff Run
TyJon will have to carry the Bulldogs into a Division 1 playoff run.  Last year the Bulldogs beat Taft in the first round but then ran into the eventual City Champions, the Narbone Gauchos.  The work has been put in, the Bulldogs do not dodge anyone when scheduling games, the players work hard on and off the field, now it is time for a team that plays east of the 110 freeway to shake up the City Section Division 1 Football World.
